The Kern County Sheriff's Office in California has released body camera and security video from a July 25 hostage situation, during which Jose Ramirez Jr (circled in red, center) shot and killed four people, including his wife, Vivian Ramirez, 42 (top right corner), their sons, Jose Ramirez III, 24 (pictured in black beanie), and Angel Ramirez, 17 (bottom right corner), and Kern County Sheriff's Deputy Phillip Campas (pictured next to wife). Cops shot Ramirez Jr dead after a five-hour armed standoff.

Bruce is a kea, or 'Nestor notabilis', who has lived in the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve in Christchurch, New Zealand ever since he recovered from his accident. His behaviour was recorded by experts from the University of Auckland over the course of nine days after being first noticed by keepers at Willowbank back in 2019. Keas have previously been observed using tools to open boxes, this is the first confirmed report of one using a tool for self care.
